Rainy Vancouver| Christmas | Winter Canada

This Seam Clock with a 5.5 meter high antique built in the 19 century is the landmark nowadays in Gastown which is located at the intersection of Water Street and Cambie Street.

Christmas Eve

Well, either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day in any western countries may not be a good idea, but we have to get used to the flying roster. In fact, I’m not familiar with Vancouver seriously because I flew there only once a year especially in the freezing cold winter. Therefore, I usually felt exhausted and slept the whole day and night until the next day coming back home. However, only the first time I visited the city with my friend who did the working holiday during that time.

I’ve heard there would be no restaurants opened on Christmas so that I ordered a Canadian Style Breakfast in morning for 23 dollars. Wow! My first time to have breakfast in bed, but it would be wonderful to have multiple choices for free or for a little bit money in the breakfast room.

Steam Clock

How to be there? Walking 5 minutes from Waterfront Station

After going out from the Hotel in the afternoon, I found there were still some coffee shops opened on Christmas day. I think, there are many stores would not follow the tradition to close on the big holidays nowadays. Take Germany for example, department stores or some shopping malls are closed later than before. And there are still some stores opened even on Sundays especially in some tourist destinations.

This Seam Clock with a 5.5 meter high antique built in the 19 century is the landmark nowadays in Gastown which is located at the intersection of Water Street and Cambie Street. It is a clock which is fully or partially powered by a steam engine. It functions every 15 minutes with the steam and the sounds.

Some tragedies happened as I arrived in the Waterfront Metro Station. First, I didn’t put the memory card in my camera but took it out with me. Second, my I-phone was at least supposed to work as a substitute but it quickly run out of battery because of the cold weather. Thanks to the owner of the souvenir store next to the steam clock. I borrowed the socket in the store to charge for 30 minutes but power showed only 10% because it was still cold in the store.

I had to use the time run quickly to the Steam Clock and took some pictures before it was getting darker. As you can imagine, it run out of the battery again after doing a few shoots. There should be some high quality photos in this blog, no matter what, I had at least one picture with the whole Steam Clock to memorize this Christmas day.

If I had chance to come back here, I wish it could be the nice weather to cheer me up. Maybe see you again, Vancouver.

Throw Back First Time

Vancouver. It’s my first time to visit here in a rainy day.

Rainy Day

Stanley Park

Granville Island

Emily Carr University of Art+Design

See You Next Time

Love,
